Some of the gear listed on this webpage is Patrol gear, some of the Personal gear is not needed. We will review gear during the meetings leading up to Philmont and SEE THE LIST BELOW. The most important gear to purchase several months before the trip is boots. Please discuss with the trip leaders, and get boots broken in before the trip. Personal Trail Gear Description
Clothes 2- hiking shorts - I suggested lined jogging shorts so you don’t need underwear, 2- technical t-shirt (troop provided), 2- hiking socks, 1 set sleep clothes - thin light shorts and shirt and light knit hat, rain jacket and pants, light hiking boots, light camp sandals, crocs or old sneakers, light puffy vest or jacket, hat with brim
Backpack Backpack with hip belt and sternum strap, light plastic trash bags for clothes and sleeping bag, summer sleeping bag, light ground pad, tent to be split between two crew members
Toiletries Small camp towel, 2oz bottle campsuds or small bar soap, mini toothbrush, small hand sanitizer
Water Bottle Two 1L Smart water bottles for clean water only and One 1qt gatoraide bottle for drink mix
Bowl and Spork Troop is providing
Other Small flashlight with fresh battery (Mr. T. providing) Lightweight cup, camera or phone, small battery pack for recharging and charger, note pad and pencil, small pocket knife, playing cards one or two decks max per crew, hiking sticks?
DON'T BRING Crew gear will contain sun screen, toothpaste, bandaids, clothes line, compasses, lighters to share. So don't bring these.
Personal Travel Gear Description
Carry on barrel bag Travel clothes, book, playing cards, money
IMPORTANT Carry on bag must meet airline dimensions and can not contain knives or any other restricted items. Those all need to be packed in the checked luggage.
Crew Equipment Description
Crew cook kit 2 nesting 6qt pot with lid, hot pot tongs, cook spoon, small square plastic ground cloth, dish soap and scrunge, mesh bag, 2 MSR stoves, wind shield, fuel, lighters, frisbee strainer and scraper, spices, water purification, 3 -1gal water bags
Crew Dining Fly 2 lightweight tarps, poles or use hiking poles, guy lines, pegs, clothes drying line
Crew First Aid Kit First aid kit, sun screen, foot care items
Crew Repair Kit Plastic trowel, stove repair parts, misc items for pack, boot, and clothing repair
Crew Navigation Maps, compass, spare compass, map app on phone
