Troop 1785 is truly blessed to have a goup of outstanding leaders with an extensive experience in scouting. Their credentials are awesome. Many of the senior leaders are involved with scouting because they truly love the work, even though they no longer have children active with the Troop.

CHRIS REED, SCOUTMASTER
Chris just became Scoutmaster in 2006.  He has a son, Charlie, in the troop.

DON THOMAS, SECRETARY
Don was formerly Soutmaster for three years.  Don recently took over as the Troop's Secretary.  Don previously was a leader with the Cub Scouts and brings a solid leadership background in Scouting to the Troop. When Don is not busy with Scouting, you may find him at work making signs.  Don owns the Sign*A*Ramma store in Laurel, 1-301-604-8700.

LARRY THOMAS, ASST. SCOUTMASTER
Larry A. Thomas, Scoutmaster Emeritus.  Larry (Mr. T as he is know to the boys) had led Troop 785 from its inception, which became Troop 1785, for about 20 years.  Larry, an Eagle Scout and has received the Exployer Silver Award, has his Wood Badge Beads, has been honored with District Award of Merit, Scouter Training Award, the Silver Beaver Award, Vigil with the Order of Arrow, and many other accolades throughout his distinguished career as a Boy Scout Leader.

DOUG MARTIN, ADVANCEMENT CHAIR
Doug transferred into Troop 1785 about 10 years ago from the National Pike District with a scouting career that spans about 50 years. Amongst his many honors: Eagle Scout, Sea Scout Qartermaster, God & Country Religious Award, Woodbadge Beads, Brotherhood member Order of Arrow, Scouter Training Award, District Award of Merit, and Silver Beaver.  He served Troop 1785 as Scoutmaster for three years, preceeding Don Thomas.  Previously he was Scoutmaster at Troop 462, 1981 to 1992. He currently is serving as our Advancement Chair.

MIKE STUMPFOLL, COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN and QUARTERMASTER
Mike has been affiliated with the Troop since he was 11 years old.  Because of his quite and calm disposition he is well liked and respected as a leader by all the boys. Mike led the boys on a Philmont Trek in 1999 and is helped to plan the 2003 trek. Mike is an architect by profession.  As Quartermaster for the Troop he manages to keep all the gear in top working condition.  In January 2003 he volunteered to take on the added responsibility of Committee Chair for the Troop.

JIM McCORMICK, ASST. SCOUTMASTER
Jim is another of our adult leaders with an outstanding and distinguished career in Scouting.  Jim is an Eagle Scout, that has formerly served as a Scoutmaster for a Troop, has been very active at the district level, and has been honored with the District Award of Merit, and Silver Beaver Award.  Jim is also a member with the Order of the Arrow and holds the Vigil Honor.  Jim is frequently accompanied by his lovely wife Linda and both are active on the Troop Committee,

GEORGE COWAN, ASST. SCOUTMASTER
George and Cheryl Cowan, parents of Scott and George, Jr., are both active with our Troop Committee.  George has his Wood Badge Beads.  He leads our fund raising activities and helps keep the Troop financially stable.  George also serves as a merit badge counselor for many badges. WILL FARTHING, COMMITTEE MEMBER
Will and his son Will Jr., recently joined the troop transferring in from the St. Louis Area Council, Missouri.  Will is in the military.  Will was a Boy Scout himself in his youth and has fond memories of all the fun he had camping.  When his son joined the scouting program, Will has alway been there, serving as Den Leader for four years, then moving up to serve on the Troop Committee when his son bridged over from Webelos.

DAN CONKLING, COMMITTEE MEMBER
Dan has been with the Troop for over 9 years and served as Committee Chair until January 2003.  Prior to that he was Committee Chair for Cub Pack 785.  He has his Wood Badge Beads, is a member of the Order of the Arrow, and has served on the Four Rivers District Committee.  He also designed and serves as web master for the Troop's web site.
