EAGLE SCOUT
Kevin Michael Roe
July 9, 2005
Kevin
began his scouting career as a Cub Scout in Pack 829, at Jacobsville Elementary School, in kindergarten. After completing his Tiger, Wolf, and Bear
advancements, he spent two years as a Webelos Scout
and earned all 20 Webelos Activity Badges and the Arrow of Light. Kevin was one of the
better scouts in the Pack races, winning various medals in the Pinewood and
Space Derbys. He also was very active in
fund-raising, decorating his red vest with all sorts of patches. He bridged
into Troop 1785 in the spring of 1998 where he moved rapidly up through the
ranks to become a First Class Scout within the first year of his Boy Scout
career. Kevin took leadership positions early in his scouting career, including
Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Quartermaster. He attended summer
camps at Camp Tuckahoe
in 1997, Camp Ware
in 1999, Camp Horseshoe
in 2001, and Camp
Tuckahoe in 2003. In the alternate years he participated in the
troop High Adventure trips to The Florida Keys in 2000,
sailing and snorkeling,
Maine in 2002, canoeing, white water rafting
and hiking, and West Virginia,
white water rafting, horseback riding, backpacking, and spelunking in
2004. As an older Scout, Kevin served as
Senior Patrol Leader and Troop Guide. While serving as Troop Guide, Kevin
helped many young Scouts to become proficient in the numerous skills required
to become a true Scout. He has earned a total of 22 merit badges.
For Kevin’s Eagle project, he constructed a 9/11 memorial
consisting of a flagpole, garden, and remembrance plaque located at Sillery
Bay, so the community
will never forget.
Kevin
attended Broadneck
Middle School, where he
earned the Honor Roll all 12 times. He entered Broadneck
Senior High into the Freshman Scholars program, went into Sophomore Scholars,
and then into various Advanced Placement classes. He earned the Honor Roll all
16 times, and ended with 2 Principal’s Honor Rolls in his Senior Year. He
graduated this year from Broadneck Senior High with
honors. Kevin is currently enrolled at Anne
Arundel Community
College under the Engineering field, which he will transfer
over to Penn State after a year of studies. Kevin
enjoys computers, tennis, shooting shotguns and rifles, snowboarding, and
swimming.
