In memory of his service to Scouting and especially to Troop 1785, the Troop and Judy Hastings have established a Bill Hastings' Camper of the Year Award.
This year, Charlie Reed was awarded Camper of the Year during the Summer Court of Honor. During monthly camping activities, boys are awarded points based on participation, maintaining a clean campsite, helpfulness, and doing what is expected. During this past year, Charlie was observed being especially helpful, thoughtful, and kind. His performance exceeded that of what was “only required” of him. He was always willing to help other scouts and to assist wherever he was needed.
In recognition of his accomplishment, Charlie’s name will be inscribed on the permanent plaque that is displayed in the meeting hall, awarded a personal plaque, and is given $50 gift certificate for a shopping trip at one of the local sporting goods stores to buy camping equipment.
